I am pretty up on the George Walton story. My mother is the permanent caretaker of Meadow Gardens, his home in Augusta, Georgia. She is the only paid employee of the D.A.R. in the state. She give a very interesting tour as well. Many of his personal effects are in the home. As for the fate of the signers, I think all agreed to the death...."It is better to die on your feet than to live on your knees".
