Freddie Baker, February 5th 2007 "Freddie Baker, who had lived and performed in Albuquerque since the mid-1960s, was born in Honolulu on Feb. 7, 1921. By the time he was 13 he was performing, playing rhythm ukulele in a band. Baker, who until last week was performing dinner shows at the Town House Restaurant, died Monday night at age 85 after a short illness, said his wife, Jane Ong-Baker." Whenever Mrs. Cheeky and I visited Albuquerque we would drop in to see Freddie performing at the Town House Restaurant. He was a warm and wonderful human being and we have many very fond memories of him. We'll miss him.... |
