in iTunes options, change the setting so that iTunes doesn't auto start when you plug in your ipod. Download winamp and the ipod add-on. it reads the ipod kind of like a flash drive. you can copy & paste stuff to and from your ipod through winamp. And you can use it on anyone's ipod. it doesn't try to sync up every time. super easy
