According to an article in the latest (?) issue of Tissue Antigens by MD Erik Thorsby at Radiumhospitalet Medical Center in Oslo, Molecular genetic studies of natives on Easter Island shows there is evidence of an early European and Amerindian contribution to the Polynesian gene pool.
