I was lucky enough to see Don Ho in 1984 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Dome in Honolulu. He was still a young man, full of smiles, jokes and songs well sung. His audience was cattle, herded into a geodesic abattoir of hapa haole and champagne music five times a day. But he was fresh. And he loved what he was doing. And he mesmerized us with his star quality.
