Especially my pal "Funny Face", who I believe is completely misunderstood!: He's not just a silly clown face! He obviously is very closely based on this authentic New Guinea suspension hook (which appears distorted on e-bay): He is, as a matter of fact, a very fitting example of WHY "cartoony" style influences flowed into Polynesian Pop: The original artefacts were often times quite caricaturistic to begin with!
