I didn't much like her in the 80's. She was a big, fat loud mouth who talked too much about her exploits. And then there's the Polident ads.

But then I got deeper into Lounge and I started having these realizations. "Papa Loves Mambo" is by her? Then I found the Perez Prado/Rosemary Clooney tunes. Wow!

Only in the news report of her death Sunday did I find out that she was there when Bobby was shot and after that she dropped out and moved back to Kentucky.

Not so long ago I realized she was (obviously) related to George Clooney. I don't adore him, but he is a real drinker and pretty funny, and in I can see a bit of that Hollywood icon of yesteryear in him. And that she is Mom to Miguel Ferrer who I first noticed on Twin Peaks and who popped up later on Luxuria Music.

So, I got a bit choked up at the news, as did the National News anchor.
