Reason Magazine had a good article on the dilemna facing Easter Island - whether more tourism is good or bad.

Things I did not know ...

• Easter Island attracts 50,000 visitors a year, which equates to 137 people arriving per day.

• Ten years ago there were two taxis on the island. Today there are 150.

• The Moai are administrated by the Chilean National Forestry Corporation (CNFC) --- interesting because Easter island lost its forests years ago.
