I recently obtained a bottle of Trader Vic's Mai Tai Concentrate (For the uninitiated, the store-bought stuff is Trader Vic's Mai Tai Mix, and the concentrate is used only in their restaurants).

I am trying to determine how best to utilize this bottle of concentrated gold. When I use the standard TV mix, I combine the following ingredients:

1 oz. Dark Rum (usually Meyers)
1 oz. Gold Rum (Appleton)
4 oz. TV Mai Tai mix
2 dashes Angostura bitters
Juice of 1/2 lime

The recommended recipe on the bottle of concentrate is:

1 oz. Dark Rum
1 oz. Gold Rum
3/4 oz. TV Mai Tai concentrate
Juice of 1 lime

The concentrate recipe clearly has far less volume than the mix recipe, and is likely to be more potent. And I still can't get it quite like at the bar.

Do any mixologists have recommendations?
