Hi

Just thought I would show you my all time favorite Tiki ever.

This one is by Dean Hetherington and is carved in the very traditional style of one of the South Island Iwi. It is carved from West Coast Pounamu (new Zealand Nephrite jade)
It is nearly 6 inches long, 3 inches wide and .75 inches thick weighing in at a hefty 12.5oz (350grams)
I have been involved in traditional Maori carving for 30 years and have never seen one as nice as this one which came from a friends personal collection. When it arived the original cord had worn through so I made and fitted a new cord and bindings to finish it off.
This Tiki has now been sold to a lady in Australia and believe me it was extraordinarily hard to let it go. I regretted selling it the moment she said she wanted it.
