Apparently familiar to anybody whop grew up in Switzerland, it hails form PRE-Tiki times. Their web page history link
( http://www.tiki.ch/geschichte_d.php ) tells of the Czech founder Hynek Boleslav Allan inventing it in 1907 (!...that was one year before Picasso bought his first Tiki! ), his son migrating to Switzerland and starting to manufacture it there in 1947. The history of what possessed Allan senior to choose that name is lost, apparently. The nice label above was brought back for their 60th anniversary, usually their modern logo is this annoying Manga character that targets the kids.
