Ok, here‘s what we have so far.

TV Vegas is open. It’s a major, disappointment at least from the descriptions and some of the reviews and the photos posted (including mine). The reasons may be because of:

It’s in a very, very high rent district so corporate brass has decided to make it more of an ultra lounge rather than tiki lounge. This was probably a well researched decision and they may or may not be right on target for a successful business. Time will tell. They are more concerned about the bottom line rather than pleasing Tiki Central folks, but that’s the way capitalism works.

The general atmosphere and lack of the tiki lounge feeling and accoutrements including music.

The food and drink menus are limited when compared to other TV's.

On the positive side:

The service and drinks are very good. The people there are very nice and really trying hard to please.

The views of the strip from there are amazing.

In time, they may improve the tiki atmosphere. I hope so.

I have never been to any other TV before but I’ve heard a lot about them and when I heard that TV was opening in Vegas I had visions of a cool dark lounge that was accessed by walking over a small bridge spanning some interesting water features to enter a cozy bamboo and thatch decorated area with flaming torches and Martin Denny music playing in the background. In reality, I was shocked and disappointed.

However, I hope that TV Vegas is a success and I will definitely go back from time to time. I still have never tried the TV Mai Tai but I soon will.

And please, if you are disappointed, don’t blame this on Las Vegas. It is a one-of -a-kind city and it’s hard to compare anything here to the rest of the world. If you don’t like what’s happening now then come back next week. Vegas is always changing. I have always loved this city but I miss the Aku Aku room. (Stumbled out of there many times in my younger days.) Come to think of it, I miss a lot of the old Vegas but it won’t hold any resentment to the Las Vegas of today. Some of the new places are really pretty cool.
