Polynesiac, thanks for your nice words and visiting my website.
I hope the website is also interesting for you american guys.
To know a little bit what happen with tiki in Germany/Europe.
Cross the pond and and enter Europe; we need much more pirates like you!

First, I colored the marquesan tiki with moorbrown wood stain.
Then I took a broad brush with a little bit orange acrylic and
colored softly over the wood surface.
So the color adhere only at the highest parts of the carving texture.
And for the finish I polished the wood with antique wax. So, all the color is fix.

I hope you understand, what I try to explain with my english skills.
