From the Orlando Sentinel 12/11/07:

Local drummer Brian Maguire seriously injured

Brian Maguire, well-known in town for work with the Delusionaires and many other bands, was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident this weekend, according to friend and band mate Aaron Jarvis.

As of this post on Tuesday morning, Maguire is in a coma at ORMC, but other information is sketchy at this point. The only emergency contact information that Maguire had on him at the time of the accident was for his mother, who has passed away, Jarvis says.

"It's a matter of watching and waiting," Jarvis said on Tuesday morning. "He had surgery yesterday to relieve pressure in his skull. He was hit by a car and he didn't have a helmet on. He's in a coma now, but there's no broken bones. It all seems to be head trauma."

At some point, the local music scene will mobilize to help raise funds for Maguire's care, Jarvis says, but the plans for that haven't been firmed up yet.

Per the police report, there was no other vehicle involved, just Brian. he was eastbound on W. Michigan (crash occurred on Michigan, not SR 50)on a 1972 Yamaha at approx. 12:20 a.m. Mon. 12/10/07 in an unknown lane; for unknown reasons he struck the south side curb of the roadway just east of 29th street. he was ejected from the bike and struck his head on the concrete. he was treated at the scene by Orlando Fire Dept. and transported to ORMC where he is now listed in critical condition with a head injury. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. "Charges" are marked "pending";"Alcohol" marked "unknown" on report.
