Walking past a Spencer Gifts at a nearby mall, I was stopped in my
tracks by a huge Tiki party/product display at the store entrance.

Most (all, probably) of it looked plastic, but there were some nifty
mugs and shot glasses, and, in particular, one REALLY COOL drink
pitcher. Otto, you might have seen some of these before, but most of
these items were totally different than anything I've seen in recent
years for new, mass-market Tiki party goods. (Plus it's much more
TIKI instead of merely "luau" tropicalia) You'll want to
investigate...

I'd imagine it would go on clearance right when the Halloween stuff
goes on sale at the end of the summer too.

(FYI, spencergifts.com is "under construction" -- don't bother...)

Last week we told you of the opening party for the Conga Lounge in
Oakland
Well we went and had a blast. It is small and cozy with one table on
a tiny balcony, a bar for about five, and booths and tables. They
serve food which is excellent (the night of the party they also had a
huge, delicious, free buffet of homemade Greek food!) The bar was
mixing a variety of cocktails - many with fresh mint -
