You can choose not to, but the result will be noticeably different, and lacking mana. :D To elaborate: Tiki is not about intellectual concepts as much as it is about VISUAL concepts. The essence of Tiki is best absorbed by looking at visuals of its mid-century temples and its different classic forms. Visual images bypass the intellect to go straight to the gut, from where they are released again in new Tiki works that are a mixture of traditions and today's sensibilities.
