This is a great, refreshing drink. I've been mixing from my (many) recipe books and haven't found anything to top it. It helps if you're partial to gin, and I am.

The Straits Sling
2 oz. gin
1/2 oz. kirschwasser
1/2 oz. Bénédictine
juice of 1/2 a lemon
2 dashes orange bitters (my accepted definition of "dash" is five drops)
2 dashes of Angostura Bitters

Shake into an iced cocktail shaker, then strain into a sour glass or Champagne flute. Fill with soda water.
Garnish with a cherry, orange slice and lemon twist.

I tend to add a few cubes after a spell.

From Ted Haigh's Vintage Spirits and Forgotten Cocktails.

Love this drink.
