There is a lot of info regarding planting Tropicals in cold climates, including the fact that you can plant some tropicals in containers put them outside in the summer and take them in the house in the Winter. The backdrop can be any green plant that works for your area, check this out if you get a chance. PM me if you want, and I will make some copies of the pages that will come in handy for you.
