I just got TIKI MODERN last week. Seems to me that a lot of tiki revolved around drinking and eating back in the 'golden age'. I would imagine most of the Polynesian themed hotels and motels had bars with a tiki flavor to them. Polynesian style invokes a vacation mentality, so it will always be hand in hand with alcohol, in my opinion. (to unhijack this thread a little): How Trump can deride anything as too tacky is like watching String Theory on NOVA, It sounds like english, yet it makes no sense in my head. |
