Built by hotel southern hotel magnate Carling Dinkler after he put "Surf Rider" Lounges in his hotels. The Luau was a huge hit and the talk of the town. I think it opened in 1959, but may have been 56. Within a couple of years, it was sold to the Dobb's family for a huge profit, and they went on to open many Dobb's House Luaus.
