My hibiscus (hibisci?) are in pots so I can pull them inside if I need to, but usually I just cover them. Same with my tibouchina and bromeliads. Also, bird-of paradise, yellow ginger, bouganvilla, palmetto, elephant ears, etc. all do fine here. I think there are enough hardy tropicals to do it, I know a lot of people have tropical gardens here.
