Hello space-age bachelor pad music fans! Just a little update from Mr. Ho's Orchestrotica, the live Esquivel big band! Carlos (our promoter in Mexico) and I have been working hard to bring you a new performance of Juan Garcia Esquivel's music. The band will return to the Mexico City area for a show on Oct 4th, 2008! We are playing just outside the city about 45 minutes north in the town of Ecatepéc, at the Festival of Ecatepéc. (Festival website and ticket info coming). I'm also excited to announce a new website I just finished with the illustration help of the wonderful Sam Gambino (www.samgambino.com). I am glad to finally get Sam's beautiful Vegas-style artwork onto the Orchestrotica's website. Visit it at http://orchestrotica.com On that note, we're also on Facebook now! It's a great place for our growing base of Mexican fans to join up with our American ones and RSVP for the event. http://orchestrotica.com/track.cfm?c=fb is the Facebook webpage. State-side Americanos: if you are thinking about coming to the show, and would like me to help coordinate individual travelers to meet in Mexico, I would be happy to put fans in touch with each other so they can stay at similar hotels etc. The band will be staying near the Zócalo in the DF (Federal District), which is downtown. Reply to this email for more info. Most exciting is the music: I'll be transcribing two more tunes to add to our library of "rescued" arrangements. Esquivel's arrangements of "Music Makers" and "Take the A Train" will hopefully both debut at this upcoming Festival. The band has lots of returning members, and many new faces as well from the Boston/NYC area. The show's musicians will include:
Our best to drummer Mikey Connors who for medical reasons, won't be able to perform as originally planned. However, he found another sub named Mikey too, so we are in good hands I am sure! Lucky for him too, I almost decided to go "home" to the skins and play drumset myself! saludos! Mr. Ho (Mr. Ho's Orchestrotica)http://orchestrotica.com (Official website) |
