The band was good Hammond-based R&B and jazz and we enjoyed chatting with Vise, who was bartending in the Bamboo Bar. I tried the Night of the Living Tiki - it was a strong punch - not bad. Brendan had the Mai Tai - way too much pineapple. Than I tried the banana daquiri with fresh banana - pretty tasty, while Brendan had the Blue Hawaiian - also pretty good.

Took a better look at the decor this time. Love the roofs made of large bamboo with matting and thatch over the bar and tables. There is a Witco wall mask which Brendan took a picture of that I'll post later. Vise designed the bar himself and had help with the construction. His wife painted the impressive ceiling (black with large tropical leaves). The lighting could be improved - it was a bit too bright. More hanging lamps would be a nice touch.

Vise does most of the band bookings so he's trying to get a good variety of music. The grand opening is on August 2nd. and Vise's band is playing. Their web site is at:

Vise was telling us how Club Deluxe is on its last legs and is rarely open anymore. It would be sad to see such a gorgeous bar close down. Visit it while you can.

How was Project Pimento last Saturday?
