Interesting Items in Ventura thrift store

Yesterday evening I found 4 monkeypod wall hangings. They are cross sections of monkeypod with color photos of Waimea Valley "decopaged" into carved areas. Imagine a postcard on a 6" round piece of monkeypod. They each have small typed labels on the back. By the labels and the gold color of the covering over the photos, they are probably 30-40 years old.

I'm not into Hawaiiana and $4.95 for each individual hanging was too expensive for me. But they were very nice pieces. So they're in the Coalition Thrift Store in Old Town Ventura. For long-time residents it's the old S&H Green Stamps building. For the younger set, it's the thrift store in the middle of the block on the other side of the street from the Mission. They're against the wall on a middle rack next to the hanging blankets.
