My best finds in the last month: Tretchikoff's Chinese Girl in a lovely frame - $20 at a garage sale. and yesterday - A Leeteg for 5 bucks at Sally Ann! Even before I read this I knew it wasn't a real Leeteg - it's just not executed all that well. Look at these awkwardly painted hands totally lacking in fine detail - the fingers are like sausages. Does anyone have a picture of the original for comparison? I couldn't find one online. The painting is called Hukilau Vahine. Still, for 5 bucks it made my day. It's in excellent condition - the colors are vibrant and I like the fake wormholes in the frame. Signature. Apparently the bottom line says "copy" but it's pretty much illegible. (black velvet sure shows up the cat hair, dunnit? I'm gonna have to get the scotch tape out). |
