Did you mix it from the recipe included in the Grog Log? If so, you got a much more sour drink than supposed because of a misprint. Grog Log recipe says 1 1/2 ounces fresh lime juice while the original calls for 3/4 ounces (juice of one lime).

BTW, I've just tried the Surf Room Mai Tai (Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Waikiki circa 1940s included in Intoxica) which was very nice although it doesn't have that much of the characteristic Mai Tai orgeat taste.
