Even though my favorite thrift was packed with holiday shoppers today I did pick up these Treasure Craft items .

Mother/Father mugs, pineapple ashtray marked "Maui" and some S&P shakers (which kinda throws me because I am not sure what a barrel of rum and a skull have to do with Africa???):

Hope everyone is getting into the holiday mood :)

think pirates....rum....slaves.....most pirate crews back in the day consisted of slaves taken or traded from various countries including africa....

i happen to be reading a book right now that dispells the pirate myths we have all grown up with and paints a picture of what the reality of pirates was like back in their heyday......

the book is "under the black flag..the romance and reality of life amongst pirates" by david cordingly

in light of all this your s/p shaker set makes sense to me.....
