Famed restaurant announces December 15, 2008 opening

(Chicago, IL)—Legendary Mai Tai Lounge and restaurant, Trader Vic’s plans to reopen its Chicago doors Monday, December 15, 2008, at a thriving new location in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast. This famous establishment, resurrected by a group of local investors, is located at 1030 N. State Street. The space has been transformed into a Polynesian oasis, complete with retro island-themed cocktails and décor, a classic menu of Trader Vic’s favorites cooked in its signature Chinese wood-fired oven, and the Trader Vic’s spirit that makes this stand-by so timeless. After 48 years in its former location, a Polynesian classic is reborn in Chicago.

Trader Vic’s is a Chicago tradition, with 28 locations worldwide. Known for creating the Mai Tai in the 1940s, the restaurant has become a beloved institution that appeals to generations for its Polynesian décor, menu and spirits, and festive atmosphere.
