My other half had this to offer.
Tom Breneman's Restaurant not only hosted the radio show, "Breakfast in Hollywood," but it was so popular, that in 1946 a movie was made called "Breakfast in Hollywood," starring Tom and Bonita Granville (Nancy Drew). Tom was also the mayor of Encino in the San Fernando Valley at the time. There were several tropical night spots in the area, but Breneman's was not one of them. The entire area of Vine Street, between Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard was known for its connection to radio. The NBC and CBS studios were on Sunset. ABC was close to Tom's, on Vine. The Brown Derby, Mike Lyman's, The Conga Room, the It Cafe, the Tropics and more all catered to the stars and audiences in radio's hey day. Los Angeles murder victim, Elizabeth Short, The Black Dahlia, was a regular at Tom Breneman's and was well known by the staff. The 7 Seas and Don the Beachcomber were nearby, but the Tropics was right on Vine Street.
