These amazing buildings and signage, ESPECIALLY the signage, were designed to draw the consumer in, by exciting them with an amazing visual. Economically , neon is is costly, and it's understandable that it's not used as much anymore, but who is the one that said ALL sign fonts have to be helvetica or times roman style ? The lettering on signs is SOOOOO boring now. Alot of cities have regulations that prohibit creative signage, so what you get, besides the boring architecture , is even MORE boring signage. It makes me sad too. Sad even more is that bowling alleys just don't seem to get built anymore, and if they keep getting bulldozed like Kona and Java Lanes, what is to happen to the good sport and recreational activity known as kegling. ? Ralph Kramden must be rolling in his grave. BigBro...If I wasn't so anti organized religion, I would consider the book of churches...they certainly have amazing architecture.
