Not really, you have a Beautiful piece of wood there. I would de-bark it and let it dry, covered and off the ground or in a garge for 6 months. Otherwise it Will split pretty good on you. Do you have smaller pieces there in the background? If so play with one of those and you'll see the beauty and the carving characteristics. It should be easy carving wood using sharp tool. Fairly soft and with typical Cedar "Chippiness".
