I always wondered: Are these now practically extinct because of the Polynesian pop craze?
Yet, checking under "Tridacna" on Wikipedia, it seems that, though they have been over-fished in some places, they are still around and commercially raised and farmed...but they sure aren't as cheap as they were back then ! :
