I received the swizzles I mentioned previously. Mostly tiki with a few kiwis, some Air NZ tiki toothpicks and a set of Zulu Lulu thrown in: Closer pics:
Just back from 5 days or so in the city (and elsewhere!)and the pickings were pretty good:
A nice book on Primitivism in Modern art, - includes Marquesan, Rapa Nui, PNG and others, juxtaposed against similar works from the modern era. This book is proof that it always pays to go back to some places for a second look! I also found the motherlode of tropical shirts, which are not easy to source here unless you like the newer, ill-fitting chainstore variety. I saw some beautiful vintage shirts but I only buy what I can wear, so some of the coolest designs had to be left behind. I did get an Iolani which I became very excited about , and a couple of sweet Fijian (or possibly NZ) made shirts. (PICS SOON) |
