As a public service for all my TC friends, I thought I might periodically review some of my latest acquisitions, particularly new exotica. Here goes:

Tiki Moon - Kenny Sasaki & The Tiki Boys, Vintage Groove Records, Japan
Tokyo's Ken Sasaki & The Tiki Boys Tiki Moon is a great mix of new and old exotica. You've got birdcalls and lushness ("enchanted"), some fine guitar & ukelele work ("at the Tiki Bar"), and some piano and Arthur Lyman-like vibraphone action("Snow on the Beach"). Overall a very tight recording. :drink: :drink: :drink:

The Moon-Rays - Chills & Thrills, Sound Imp Records
Surfing, Monsters, and Spies. Chicago-based Surf Combo release includes standards like Bonzai Pipeline, Experiment in Terror, and Shot in the Dark, along with a few other tracks. One of my favourites is a cover of Martin Denny's Hypnotique, which runs into the theme from Our Man Flint. Very well done. :drink: :drink:

project:pimento - Magical Moods of the Theremin, Tru Blu Lu Records
The sultry vocals of Miss Lola Bombay coupled with the magical Theremin -- what's not to like. I was actually quite pleasantly surprised by how deftly this SF-based lounge act incorporated the theremin into exotica standards such as Bali Hai and Caravan. Definitley worth a listen. :drink: :drink:

Here's hoping the TC ohana find this useful and interesting.

Aloha,

Vic
