Greetings all,

A while back I was was searching the recipes on topsecretrecipes.com, when I came across a copy-cat recipe for the restaurant version of TV's Mai Tai Mix. So I purchased it, it was only 79 cents what could I loose?

The description claims Todd Wilbur was able to score some of the restaurant mix, from which he cloned the recipe. (On a side note, I made many of his cloned food recipes and they're pretty close.)

Here is his recipe that I've jacked up the amounts to get a bottle's worth (about 1 liter)

2.5 Cups granulated sugar
1.25 Cups of hot water
2.5 oz orange extract
1.25 oz almond extract

I combine all the liquids before mixing. Then stir until all is dissolved.

To make a Mai Tai, I use 1oz of the mix, the juice of 1 and a half limes, 1oz dark rum, 1oz gold rum and shake.

I know it's a shortcut to making a fine Mai Tai but I have to say the recipe is pretty tasty. It works great for a quick Mai Tai or for many.

If anyone makes a batch, please post some feedback. I'm interested in what others think of the recipe. Especially since I've never been to a Trader Vic's, so I have nothing to compare it to.

Cheers! and Enjoy!

Rick
