Found another unknown carver in a July 31, 1962 issue of the Redlands Daily Facts

His name was Alex Monios of 406 San Mateo St. The crappy photo shows a tiki he carved, and you can't see the tiki pendant he carved that is around his neck. He was born on Molokai, attended Kamehameha school, and served in the army for 3 years before coming to the mainland. He was working for Sorenson's Engineering at this time, making electronic devices for missiles, and carved tikis in his spare time.
