Tiki Central / General Tiki / Would you prefer Tiki as 'mainstream' or 'underground'?

There is often a waiting line at Hala Kahiki (bar) in Chicago. But in general, considering the northern IL/southern WI area has 11 million people, one might say Tiki is far, far, far from mainstram on the central coast (Great Lakes). Personally, 'would like to see much more of it. BTW, Tong's Tiki Hut restaurant in Villa Park (metro western burbs Chicago) is positively Tiki-gorgeous, all in all. |
