Description:
La Verandah and her consort stayed here for three nights recently, as part of an Exploritas program on the history and culture of Hawaii. The town of Kahului is, basically, a smallish suburban town right on the beach with a community college and proximity to the Maui Ocean Center, the former whaling village of Lahaina, and the little hippie burg of Paia.

This is a moderately priced (for Hawaii) full-service, medium-sized hotel overlooking the ocean, with a pool, terrace restaurant and full bar. The place is moderately new-looking, very clean and well-maintained. The web site says it was recently renovated but doesn't say when, or when it was first built. The only style remaining of a vaguely tiki past are the main building's very high-peaked roof (which can be seen on the web site) and a nice full-length black tiki figure often draped with leis on the patio (not pictured). If possible, La Verandah will post her own pics.
