I felt guilty when I moved a big part of my Spanish vintage tiki mug collection to Mexico... BUT also felt that way more people could see it in America and enjoy and learn from it. Appreciate it, protect it. Preach the tiki gospel in far away lands. Truth is, if I didn't collected this Iberian ceramics, they would probably end up broken or lost.
This topic is truly fascinating...
We love everything Tiki thanks to some early "collectors" that brought us primitive art in civilized places. I bet primitive places love civilized art. Or T.V.
I always wondered, what would a man savage from PNG (Papua Nueva Guinea) would think about a mug sculpted after his deity. Which makes me think what would I think if I went to an American bar in PNG and had a drink on a Jesus mug. :-?
