Seeksurf, thanks for checking in. i think the black cord is pretty spiffy too.

I decided to take a break from the bone for a bit. I've been working on something, but not quite ready to share yet. I will post a couple of in progress teaser photos though. Working with wood felt so alien, I mean I have to worry about grain direction! What the heck is up with that? And the smell... not even as soothing and aromatic as ground bone. Oh well.


Trying my hand at some relief carving again. This is an old piece of basswood that I had to sand down an existing finish from. I just used an orbital sander, probably a better method out there but it worked. This is a double spiral, trying to get the hang of it. Breaking in a new set of palm chisels and a chip knife.


This is the head of a Manaia. You can see the spiral on the shoulder there. I'm thinking of putting an inlay in the eye, not sure.
