This book wasn't written decades after the fact but rather when those events were actually occurring. You still might be able to find it for a few bucks in a used book store as I did. It's fascinating background to supplement your nostalgia for the Aku Aku, DTBC, Congo Room, and the Sahara when Elvis was doing Ann-Margaret there in the 28th floor Presidential Suite (during the filming of Viva Las Vegas).
