I peaked into the store tonight; it is "sorta" open for Modernismweek. The store is right on main drag, Palm Canyon next to Trio restaurant (which is also showing Shag's artwork). There are probably 25 pieces on display; it is not entirely finished yet. No furniture except a Jacobsen swan chair in red on an orange shag carpet in the back next to the register, and a cool tiki wall (orange irregular stone wall ala your favorite tiki hotel/restaurant with a large brown brown tiki face on it - they are in a "lifelike shag" style - so , not your pure wood/tiki look but instead , Shag's signature cartoony look brought into reality). I was at the M Modern gallery where some of his work is on display right now; his partner (store operator?) said something about them trying to keep the store open this week for modernism week but that the grand opening was maybe in May? I'm eyeballing an artist proof myself right now - we'll see! Mr. Ho |
