Sorry we missed you Hot Lava. We were at the end of the bar on the side nearest the stage. Marian was probably the only blonde in the bar (most of the other women were goth types). I was wearing a shirt that looks like your tiki central name.
Being kind of forward, we did get to meet Mark and Sobek and had a great time talking with them and listening to the V'nauts. Hopefully the band will end up playing next year's Hukilau. I guess I would describe their sound as the Ventures covering whatever strikes their fancy. Very surf guitar, but rocking harder or softer as they feel like it. It also was nice to hear Arthur Lyman dee-jayed on the loud sound system before the show.
The venue didn't do much for us, but on the plus side, the night worked out to be pretty cheap.
Another highlight of the weekend was spending the night at the Tahitian Inn on Dale Mabry in Tampa.

It was built in the mid 50's and was severely and sadly remodeled in 2000, however, it's still a really nice little hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean, the pool area is very tropical and relaxing, and the coffee shop serves a great breakfast. A room with a King bed goes for $89.
If you're looking for a place close to Ybor City, Busch Gardens, Raymond James Stadium or downtown, we definitely recommend it.

Aloha from the Sunshine State!
