Pretty much destroyed Powell's career. Also- a great double feature would be to watch Nosferatu and Shadow of the Vampire. Nosferatu being the superb silent version of Dracula by FW Murnau and starring Max Schreck as the vampire. Full of creepy images and innovative (for the time) camera work. Shadow of the Vampire is a great story that suggests that Murnau hired Schreck because he actually WAS a vampire. Great performances by Malkovich, Dafoe, and Izzard. The sets and shots are beautifully recreated. Really interesting to watch them back to back.
