Hello all!

Here are a few of my latest paintings..sharing with TC Ohana. All these creations have some thread to "Tiki"..or the various inspirations as the result of muttling together great tropical spirits and true Sea faring adventurers who understand what I may present in a painting. I will give a brief description of all posted...but feel free to write me on facebook or wherever you frequent and say hi and I am happy to elaborate in any way desired in more detail.

Aloha and whatever you do...for the sake of humanity... and your fellow artists...FOREVER refuse the temptation to stop being that Kid you were born to be....when your wisdom knew no boundaries!

Oh...I am sure this is understood but please do not copy ANY art posted here for use..All images are copyright material owned fully myself, Tom Thordarson and I have had to enforce action recently regarding unauthorized uses unfortunately. Contact me if you have interest in acquiring images. Thanks! I have some hidden tricks in these images I post to identify their origins so PLEASE honor this request. The fiery side of me emerges if I discover any monkey shines!!!

ENJOY ! ~THOR

"All Lei's Returned" Acrylic on canvas (24"by 36")
This is one of the few pieces I do using the "above and below" POV, since it's used far too often for years in Hawaii. But in this case, it was cried out to be a way to show how the US Navy in Hawaii serves both zones with pride. I was asked by numerous USN friends to do something to show the tradition in Hawaii of making a giant Lei (they use colored plastic trash bags often) and placing it over the tower of of a submarine coming back into port safely is celebrated. Al the families come to welcome them home. Here, I am showing many of Hawaii's creatures of the Pacific that symbolize attributes of the Navy or inspired traits of sea life applied to their ships...sonar, shape dynamics...intellect..etc.

I have spoken to many Military collectors of my work who are submariners, who have shared many stories of how the whales and dolphins follow them above and below water....and no harmful sonar present. I was inspired by this after researching the subject. So, this piece was done to show the welcoming of the submariners returning safely to home port in Hawaii, and all the lei's that went to sea to serve our country, return here to the Islands....with all the creatures of Hawaii's sky's and waters escorting them to their Ohana that awaits just a few miles away at port.

Next are the first of many more in the Mermaid series. I have painted a number of pieces with mermaids in them and they hae all sold really well. But there were requests fo rme to paint JUST a focus on a mermaid..alone without a Pirate or other. So, I kinna thought it would be fun to do something like this where it has a slight "pin-up" feel, with the pose at times but not trying to be "pin-up" at the same time. Here are the first attempts just painted. There will be stories about all these....to feed the imagination. I want to use models too who have their own story connected to their "mermaid" persona they have inside. So, for the first sets I spoke to one you all know as a true Mermaid consultant of magic...Marina and her pod!!

In these first four, "Kika" the Mermaid in Marina's pod is the brunette..though I slightly changed her likeness in "Fond Recall"."Kami" is the blonde who will appear in more to come as well...and I think I got pretty close to their likenesses in all the other pieces. Marina is coming up in the next piece I will post in a few weeks of this series. I can't thank these fine tailed friends for posing like my sketches. Marina's "Medusirena" Pod is unparalleled. I am working on more paintings celebrating the wreck bar too.... Anyway, hope you enjoy these... They are all acrylic on canvas, 18" by 24". Originals and published prints.
