I saw that. One of the last stops on the finale. They had the band playing in the "lagoon" and the thunderstorm. They also called it one of the first tiki bars in America. Am I wrong in thinking it didn't become tiki until sometime in the 60's which would actually make it quite late in the game? Also, I don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet - America's Next Top Model is in New Zealand and there's quite a nicely carved Maori tiki visible in some of the interviews and a large tiki is the centerpiece in the judging room (that one may be a prop but the other one looks real enough). (yes, I've outed myself as an ANTM watcher). |
