Found these photos online... nice!
Forget bamboo draft beers, tropical masks and exotic palm trees. Barcelona has just opened a tiki bar with no fuming drinks of dubious content and colourful parasols to focus on original recipes pioneers in tropical cocktails brought to the United States in the 1940s and 1950s. Back then, people like Don the Beachcomber or Trader Vic would take clients to exotic places through the drinks they prepared. Those cocktails are the ones the Tahiti is serving, a bar which has taken a bit of the tiki culture with formulas with rum, natural juices and spices in a space with an American dinner air, decorated with right photographs of hula girls and a jukebox that doesn't stop playing music. Sober lines contrast with carefully chosen vintage furniture and Hawaiian ceramics. The menu includes traditional cocktails divided into base drinks on the one hand (gin, vodka, whisky, rum, vermouth, tequila, brandy, cava or alcohol free) and tiki cocktails on the other. Among them are Mai Tai (Jamaican rum, Martinica rum, lime juice, cucaƧao, sugar syrup and almond syrup), Navy Grog (Jamaica rum, Demerara rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice, pineapple juice, passion fruit syrup, brown sugar and Angostura bitters) or Dr. Funk (white rum, Pernod, lime juice, grenadine, and soda). The person responsible for the Tahiti bar is cocktailman Javier Cejas, one of the partners of the Negroni. His background and experience guarantee quality cocktails. Drop by Tahiti and find out yourself! No smoking allowed. http://tradermagnus.blogspot.com [ Edited by: Trader Magnus 2010-05-11 14:03 ] [ Edited by: Trader Magnus 2010-05-11 14:04 ] |
