Where did the inspiration for the Zombie cocktail come from? I think this film released in 1932 (2 years prior to Don Beach creating the Zombie cocktail) is the key. Many film critics argue this film introduced the word Zombie and its concept of the "animated dead" into popular culture. Unlike George Romero's brain eating Zombies, these Zombies were based in Voodoo folklore which was brought to Haiti by African slaves.
