http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-DuRK3810s&feature=related When we opened for Wayne, we were standing outside the club and he came out and was talking with us. You just could not find a nicer guy! Tobacco chewing, accent so thick you could barely understand him and a sly grin! What a guy! No pretention, no attitude (you kind of expect a bit of a tude with most rockabilly artists). But, Wayne is the real deal. A total Southern Gentleman in every way. Plus, this music he plays goes far beyond rockabilly. It's western swing and real early country, but not just some tribute or retro-thing. It's current, and what you would have heard had you lived back in the early 50's in the south. As I recall, there may have been only two of our tiki central friends that made it out to the show we did with him. What a shame, as it was a great show this man did! Russell Scott and his red hots were on the same bill with us: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRtjvz9p170&feature=related And here is another modern country artist we opened for: Michael Ubaldini http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b5GIM-8Q7Fo&feature=related And here is someone we would LOVE to open for! The GREAT Junior Brown! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_wLVCLPx0M And the awesome Brian Jay! (This is the band Dartin Menny (kevin Stewart) used to play with) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK1J_O6DU1g&feature=related Another modern country classic! Dwight Yoakam! Big Sandy and the Flyrite boys: This one has Dartin Menny (Kevin Stewart from Exotiki) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txQ7c69Qp98 And here was a unique performance at the redwood that some of you tiki centralites were lucky enough to witness!
