Chris, Welcome to TC! It looks like you have ample space to work with and sounds like you have the ambition necessary to make it happen. I'm quite the rookie builder myself, so my advice may fall pretty low on the scales, but... what I will say is follow the old rule of measure twice, cut once. Planning phase is really important to how everything will fit together and look when you get done. As for the BBQ pit, I would say just plan to have a fire extinguisher or two handy, just-in-case.
